After the death of John in 1841 she re-married 22 June 1842 at St Saviour, County Argyle (the Bungonia area, near Goulburn), as Jane "Wire" with Richard Taylor a boatman who had come on the Layton 8/11/1829 at the age of 19; after being convicted of Highway Robbery in Lincoln. This must be her, because when she gave permission for her daughter Lucy Barber to marry, Lucy's mother was called Jane Taylor.

Read through the WikiTree API (action=getProfile, bio field) on 2026-09-08; wiki markup dropped, nothing else altered. Quality 1: the marriage register has not been read and the NSW index has not been searched for it. The identification argument quoted at the end is the profile's own and is a good one — Jane Barber's daughter Lucy needed her mother's consent to marry at Goulburn in December 1842, six months after this marriage, and the consenting mother is named Jane Taylor. It is also what makes the "Wire" spelling attested on a record rather than in prose, which is why that aka row is proposed in #2306. Richard Taylor is created here as a spouse only — no children are attached to this family, because the two Taylor children usually given to it belong to the disputed Parramatta household.
