  1. R-M222 2 The large "north-west Irish" branch of R1b (below DF49 and L21), strongly associated with Donegal, Derry and Tyrone and with Highland and Hebridean Scotland; the root of everything the North Uist Ferguson project records.
  2. Z2959 2 First step below M222 on the North Uist Ferguson line (FamilyTreeDNA path R-M222 > Z2959 > S658 > DF104 > DF105 > DF85 > S673 > BY25946 > FT94064).
  3. S658 2 Intermediate SNP below Z2959 on the M222 line, as ordered on the Ferguson - North Uist project page.

  5. DF105 2 A major M222 subclade below DF104; the level at which many Ulster and west-Scottish lineages separate.

Everyone on John's and Neil's father-to-son lines carries it.
  11. FTD49564 Sister branch of FT93868 under FT94064 - the project's "1b. Pre-surname connection to North Uist #1": kit 803176, declared ancestor Thomas Boyd c.1710, Northern Ireland. One step removed from the Ferguson line; the common ancestor predates the surnames. No Boyd is recorded in this tree - the connection lives here and on the kit's source row.
