Amelia Baker was born on March 31, 1841 in East Coker, Somerset, England. Her parents were [[Baker-6947|George Baker]] (~1811 - ) and [[Baker-6948|Mary Baker]] (~1810 - ).

WikiTree profile Baker-6946, read via the API 2026-09-07 (wiki markup left as it stands). CONFIRMED where it matters: the Kate's assisted-immigrant list, now cited on this event, independently gives Amelia's place of origin as East Coker, Somerset, her age as 13 in November 1854, and the same household of George, Mary, Eliza and Susan. Her father is now linked from her own death registration. What remains WikiTree-only is the precise birth date of 31 March 1841 and the mother's given name Mary as a birth-family fact rather than a passenger-list entry; the 1851 census of East Coker (HO107/1929 f.138 p.19) has still not been read directly.

He was transported on the "Marquis of Wellington" (sometimes improperly "Lord Wellington") from London 1st Sep 1814 to NSW 27th Jan 1815 via Madeira and Rio.

Compiled profile quoting the Cambridge Chronicle and Journal of 25 February 1814 ('John Barber, for stealing a bay mare, the property of Mr R. Burgess, of Wainfleet: - were both capitally convicted, and received sentence of death, but were afterwards reprieved') and the 1817-1828 NSW musters. This is the arrival the 1947 obituary garbles as 'Mrs. Nelson's grandfather came to Australia with Governor Macquarie': Macquarie landed in December 1809, five years before John Barber, though the whole of his sentence was served under Macquarie's governorship.

WikiTree profile Watson-26239, biography read through the API 2026-09-08 and quoted as the wiki markup stands. This is the ONLY evidence the tree has for her death and it is a compiled tree, so quality 1 - but the contributor is quoting a register, giving the abode (Kenwick), the age (27), the description (labourer's wife) and the officiating minister (the Rev. Thomas Hassall of Cobbitty), and their Sources section adds 'Death of Sarah Field: NSW BDM D: FIELD SARAH 999_1842 V1842999 26B AGE 27 (reel 5007)'. Their own research note observes that Kenwick does not appear on maps of Cobbitty and Narellan. The NSW BDM early church-register row and the Narellan St Thomas burial register both need reading; until then this citation stands alone and is weak. Corroboration that the family WAS in the Camden district then: their daughter Mary Elizabeth was born 'at the Cowpastures, Camden district, on 3rd September, 1840' (The Methodist, 5 January 1924).
