"The death occurred, on Tuesday morning of a well-known and respected resident of Fairney View. Mr. Wilhelm Berderow, sen. He had been in ill-health for some time, and the day preceding his death he was worse than usual. At 8 o'clock on Tuesday morning he passed away."

Tuesday is 30 October 1928, the recorded death date. The obituary describes him as a prominent member and constant worker for the Lutheran Church, and names three sons, Wilhelm and Ernest (Fairney View) and Otto (Fernvale), two daughters, Mrs A. Moeller (Fairney View) and Miss Annie Berderow (Esk), and two grandchildren. Mourners included Mr and Mrs John Kleinschmidt, Mr Emil Kleinschmidt, Messrs F. and H. Burow (Pimpama Island) and Mr and Mrs C. Maas.
