"Aged 74 years" implies a birth about 1795 and does not agree with the recorded 29 OCT 1797; nothing has been changed on that account.

Quoted as the OCR stands; "then loss" is almost certainly an OCR misread of "their loss" (compare the Sydney Mail's "to deplore their loss", citation 49444). A third printing of the same family notice already cited from the Empire (10 Apr, 49443) and the Sydney Mail (13 Apr, 49444), thirteen days after the death - same wording, same figures (eleven children, sixty-two grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren), same day given ("6th"). Not an independent report: it does not corroborate 6 April against the austcem index's 5 April (citation 49541) any more than the existing two citations already do, but it does show the family's own wording was consistently "6th" across three separately typeset papers, which rules out a single compositor error. Death date left unchanged.

The record previously said 22 APR 1947, seven months before his death. The notice also shows he had a wife nee Beltz and children who are not yet in the tree.

Obituary five days after his death on 10 April 1932. Age 72 implies birth between April 1859 and April 1860, consistent with the tree's 1860 and inconsistent with the 1857 given by the Queensland Parliament register (he would have been 74 or 75).

Mrs. Martha Jane Cilento, one ot the oldest, bes known and most respected residents of Port Augusta, passed away at the local hospital on Sunday, December 28. Mrs. Cilento, who was 79 years of age, was born in Port Adelaide and with her late husband, came to Port Augusta over 53

Wikipedia cites this very notice for the death while its infobox carries 1838. The primary NSW birth/baptism record could not be checked: the NSW BDM historical index refuses scripted access (HTTP 403).

Gives death date as 17 July (the tree's existing DEAT date, uncited GEDCOM, is 18 JUL 1917) - flagging for the moderator rather than changing, since a family notice can be filed the day after the event was reported to the paper and both dates are plausible. 'A colonist of 64 years' implies emigration from Prussia ABT 1853, in early childhood. 'Leaving 6 sons, 2 daughters' matches the surviving children once son Thomas (d. 20 Jan 1917, proposal #1476) and infant Carl Joseph Edmund (d.1879) are excluded.

This is the item listed in ADB's own Select Bibliography as 'Morning Bulletin (Rockhampton), ... 7 Jan 1882', so the ADB's 3 January contradicts the source it cites. OCR line-break hyphen in 'Scot-land' left as printed. It places the wedding 'At Alton', not at Rockhampton as both secondary accounts say.

"WILMINGTON, January 20. A fatal accident occurred here yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, resulting in the death of Mr. T. Modystach, son of Mr. Michael Modystach, of this town. The deceased, one of a family of 13, was engaged in stripping operations at Mr. J. Gordon Fraser's farm at the Minbadogie Creek, where he was sharefarming with his brother. It appears that one of the horses attached to the stripper got one of its legs over the chains. The deceased was endeavouring to free the animal when the team bolted, knocked him down, and one wheel of the machine passed over his body just above the hips. He was brought into Wilmington and promptly attended to by Dr. W. M. Pickering. Although he was in great pain, no serious result was then feared, but the unfortunate man suddenly expired at about 2.30 a.m. Great sympathy is felt for the family, who are well known and highly respected in the district."

Marriage notice nine days after the event: Richard Bligh (#50085) to Maria Isabella Fennell (#50086, recorded in the tree as Marie Isabel Fennel), at Scone, New South Wales, on 16 February 1847. The tree carries no marriage date for this family; this supplies one. The bride's identity is confirmed downstream by the Queensland death registration of their son, which names his mother as Marie Isabel Fennel, and by their granddaughter Marie Isabell Fennell Bligh, born 1882. For Richard Bligh & Elizabeth Bligh

The Late John O'Connell Bligh. ... The deceased was a grandson of Governor Bligh, and nephew of the late Sir Maurice O'Connell. He has been in the public service for about thirty years, having been appointed a lieutenant of the Native Police force about the year 1850. He has been in the public service ever since, and at the time of his death was 46 years of age. He leaves a family of six children to mourn their loss.

Obituary of John O'Connell Bligh (tree #50167), a child of this family, reprinted from the Gympie Miner of 14 December 1880 two months after his death. Two independent statements fix his mother's identity: he was a grandson of Governor William Bligh (#50091) AND a nephew of Sir Maurice O'Connell, who in this tree married the Governor's daughter Mary Bligh (#50095). His mother must therefore have been a daughter of Governor Bligh and a sister of Mary - which is exactly the tree's Elizabeth Bligh (#50192), wife of Richard Bligh (#50191). This is the evidence for the generation the descent turns on. Rated 2: a contemporaneous newspaper report of kinship, not a register entry.

He is survived by a family of six sons and two daughters - Messrs. David Walton (Moore), Benjamin Walton (Wel-lington Point), William Walton,(Ipswich), James Walton (Rosevale), and Boyd and John Walton (Tarome). Mrs. C . Canty (Ipswich), and Miss E. M. Walton (Tarome). One son predeceased bim by about 17 years.

Independent confirmation of this family's composition: David = David Ernest #9241, Benjamin = Thomas Benjamin #34540, William = William Charles #34539, James = James Seeley #34541, Boyd = Boyd Perrett #34544, John = John Walter #34546, Miss E. M. Walton = Ethel May #34543 or Moy #34542, and the son who predeceased him about 1909 accounts for the ninth child. The same notice says he 'secured farm land at Mt. Walker, where he, with his late wife, resided for about five years', which is where the eldest children were born. Spelling and punctuation are the newspaper's OCR.

Evidence for the new child link. Family 18439 is the family of #60211, identified by open proposal 176 as Robert Charles Morehead of Sydney; the notice names Charles Lambton as his only son. Consistent with the other child already in this family, Margaret Agnes (#26018), whose 1898 marriage notice calls her the 'only daughter of the late Robert Charles Morehead, of Sydney'.

The names of the children are Benjamin, Ray-monf, Alice Mary, Lilian Gladys, and Arthur Norman.

Identity control. The husband is named earlier in the same notice as "Mr. Harry Edward Trueman, of Moulder-st". "Benjamin, Ray-monf" is OCR of Benjamin Raymond (#21758). With Alice Mary (#21759), Lillian Gladys (#21725) and Arthur Norman (#21760) that is four of the five children in this tree; the fifth, the newborn, is Esme Doris (#21761). Two sisters and four brothers are said to survive her.
