For Johann Carl Pech & Johanne Christiane Stiller

In 1871 he was married to. Miss Christiana Stiller, of Bethany, near Tanunda, who predeceased him in 1914. ... A family of three sons, Messers Trangott, (Appila) Ernest (Laura) Johann (Appila), and three daughters, Mesdames J. C. Wegner (Pine Creek) H. C. Jaeschke (Yan-diah) and W. Wurst (Laura) survive. Mr. Hermann Pech predeceased his father some years ago.

Two passages from the obituary, separated by an ellipsis where the intervening biography is omitted. It confirms the 1871 marriage year and his wife's death in 1914, both already recorded. THE MARRIAGE PLACE REMAINS UNRESOLVED and is untouched: the tree says Angaston, the Moad sheet says Langmeil, this says the bride was "of Bethany, near Tanunda" — which is where her sister Johanne Ernestine's headstone also says she was born. All three are Barossa places within a few kilometres and none of the three sources is a register. The surviving-children list is the evidence for identifying the seventh child below, and "Mr. Hermann Pech predeceased his father" is one of three proofs that #55430 is Paul Hermann.
