For “Residence” 1974 of John Albert Stiller

STILLER | John Albert | Death notice | 29APR1974 | Death | 73 | late of Matraville | Sydney Morning Herald | 30APR1974

Ryerson Index row (gen ryerson --surname Kidd --given Philip --state NSW), columns Name | Event | Date | Age | Place. Age 84 gives a birth about 1891, consistent with a 1915 marriage; the birth date on his record is ABT 1891 from this age only.

For “Died” 12 NOV 1911 of Wenzel Grenenger

Wenzel GRENENGER | DEAT | 12NOV1911 | 78 | late of Burwood

Birth c.1833 derived from the age. The Braidwood/Burwood Grenengers descend from him. CORRECTION (2026-09-07): the Wenzel Grenenger writing home from Masumba Wa Nkasi and Deda, Central Angoniland, British Central Africa in 1903-06 was NOT this man's son but his nephew - the Braidwood Dispatch of 10 March 1944 has him educated at Braidwood public school and staying in South Africa after the Boer War, and James Ernest Grenenger's 1918 obituary says 'another son is in South Africa'. The Braidwood Dispatch of 8 December 1950 reports the death of 'Mr. W. A. Grenenger, of Nyassaland'. Wenzel's own son Wenzel Edward B (#82915) died an infant in March 1874.

For “Died” 2 MAR 1859 of Mary Cook

Mary SAVILLE | DEAT | 02MAR1859 | 50 | at Lansdowne, Manning River

The Ryerson Index row, quoted in its column order: name, notice type, date, age, locality. Ryerson indexes Australian newspaper death, funeral, probate and obituary NOTICES; the row is the index entry, not the notice text. The date matches the Lansdowne plaque ('HIS WIFE MARY / DIED 2 3 1859') and the cemetery transcription exactly, and the locality names the place of death, which no source read before this one gave. The age of 50 gives a birth about 1809. Quality 2: a newspaper notice is a report of the death, not the registration of it, and the informant is unknown.

For “Died” 15 NOV 1960 of Edith May Sullivan

Edith May SULLIVAN | DEAT | 15NOV1960 | late of Enfield

Ryerson Index row: surname, notice type, date and the place as printed in the newspaper notice. Same name in full, same year and the family's own suburb as the NSW registration in the Burwood district, so the two rows are one woman and the day of death is taken from here. Ryerson gives no age, so no birth year is entered.
