Volunteer transcriptions of monumental inscriptions and burial registers, indexed by cemetery. The transcribers mark uncertain figures with a question mark; a queried age or year is a warning not to rely on it.

Australian Cemeteries Index transcription, fields in the site's column order: Name | Event | Date | Age | Place | Father | Mother | Spouse. 'Maragret' is the index's own spelling. Age 45 is consistent with a birth of 26 March 1884.
His own headstone at Ipswich General Cemetery; the parenthetical shows he went by 'Robert'. Supporting context for the two attested name-order variants above, not itself a third name row.
Thomas Carseldine | GRAVE | 7 Jul 1975 | age 74 | Toogoolawah QLD | father=Herbert | mother=Ellen (Thornton) | born 12 May 1901 | detail: son/Herbert & Ellen (Thornton); QX13582
Headstone independently agrees with the BDM date and gives a matching birth date (12 May 1901, exact match to tree) and an age-74 consistent with a 1901 birth. Carries WW2 service number QX13582 (QX = Queensland unit prefix) -- not chased further (DVA Nominal Roll needs Chrome, outside this pass's access).
Birth Date: 2 Feb 1890 / BDM Birth Reg: C1436/1890 / Father Given Names: Alexander / Mother Given Names: Elizabeth / Mother Birth/Maiden Name: Brown
Field values quoted in the austcem inscription page's own column order. Corroborates the QLD BDM birth citation (see the births proposal) and independently names her parents, cross-matching the tree exactly.
Wilhelmine Riek, died 1 Jul 1941, age 93, Dayboro QLD, wife of Christov, born 1848?
Her own marker gives 1 July 1941 and an age of 93 (born about 1848; the tree has 1847). The same cemetery index carries two of her daughters naming her as mother: Annie Wilhelmina Bridges (Riek) b. 24 Apr 1880, Nundah QLD, daughter of Christopher Carl and Wilhelmina (Lindenberg), and Louise Auguste Christine Kerwitz (Riek) b. 1872, Dayboro QLD, daughter of Christoph and Wilhelmine (Lindenberg).
Neil Mcleod Stuart | GRAVE | 24 Jan 1965 | 37 | Centennial Park SA | 1928?
Monumental inscription transcript, values in the index's own field order: Name | record type | date of death | age at death | cemetery | born. The index spells the surname element "Mcleod" where the tree has "MacLeod". The "?" on the born field is the transcriber's uncertainty marker; the age of 37 is the primary figure, and it puts the birth between 25 Jan 1927 and 24 Jan 1928.
"William W Charles 24 Jul 1968 73 Goulburn General NSW"
Monumental inscription transcription; the columns returned are Name, Date of death, Age, Cemetery. Retrieved 2026-08-29 by a surname search on Charles restricted to Goulburn General. Age 73 on 24 July 1968 gives a birth between 25 July 1894 and 24 July 1895, containing the recorded 1894 birth. The same cemetery holds Lillian G Charles, 7 Apr 1976, 81 (his wife #21725), Leslie Thomas Charles, 4 Nov 1934, 52, David Henry Charles, 15 Aug 1968, 81, and Jessie Elizabeth Charles, 27 Jun 1983, 91 β three of his siblings, all matching the tree.
Leslie Thomas Charles | GRAVE | 4 Nov 1934 | 52 | Goulburn General NSW
Australian Cemeteries Index grave row (columns: Name | Type | Date of death | Age | Cemetery), surname search 'Charles' filtered to Goulburn General. Age 52 at death on 4 Nov 1934 is consistent with the tree's recorded 1882 birth year. Buried at Goulburn General Cemetery, the same ground already established as this family's burial place via citation 49494 on his brother William Webster Charles #21724, alongside three already-confirmed siblings. Upgrades the existing 'NOV 1934' to an exact day; deathPlaceId left at Goulburn #75 (town-level) since the cemetery itself has no place row.
Charles | Thomas | 14 May 1816 | 7 Aug 1898 | 82 | son/John & Martha (Freeman); b. Normanton on Soar Nottinghamshire, England; h/Sarah (Cole) | Goulburn Old NSW | Pbn Old 482
Supports the birth date 14 May 1816, the birth place Normanton on Soar, Nottinghamshire and the death date 7 Aug 1898 already recorded here, and adds the parents' names. Columns as above. Quality 2: an index of monumental inscriptions, compiled after the event.
Charles (Cole) | Sarah Ann | 1 Jan 1816 | 10 Jul 1882 | 66 | dau/John & Rhoda (Herbert); b. Lutterworth Leicestershire, England; w/Thomas | Goulburn Old NSW
Supports the birth date 1 Jan 1816, the birth place Lutterworth, Leicestershire and the death date 10 Jul 1882 already recorded here, none of which previously carried a citation. Columns as above.
Ezzy | William James | 8 Feb 1818 | 27 Aug 1884 | 66 | son/John & Rebecca (Lamb); b. Windsor NSW, Australia; h/Mary Ann (Mayo) | Millthorpe NSW
Index row, field values quoted in the site's own column order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery. The Details column's conventions are son/ = son of, followed by father and mother with her maiden surname in brackets; b. = born; h/ = husband of. Naming both parents β John and Rebecca (Lamb), i.e. #21769 and #21770 β and the wife Mary Ann (Mayo), #21766, is the hard discriminator that ties this monument to this man. This replaces my earlier quotation, which reproduced my client's rendering rather than the source's.
IN MEMORY OF / WILLIAM JAMES EZZY / WHO DIED 27TH. AUGUST 1884 / AND HIS WIFE MARY ANN / WHO DIED 1899. / EARLY PIONEERS OF MILLTHORPE / ERECTED BY EZZY FAMILY TRUST 1988.
Read from the photograph of the bronze plaque on the Ezzy family memorial bench at Millthorpe (media 293). Quality 2: erected by the Ezzy Family Trust in 1988. Confirms the death date 27 Aug 1884 recorded on #21765.
Ezzy | William James | 8 Feb 1818 | 27 Aug 1884 | 66 | son/John & Rebecca (Lamb); b. Windsor NSW, Australia; h/Mary Ann (Mayo) | Millthorpe NSW
Index row for her husband's grave at Millthorpe, field values quoted in the site's own column order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery. In the Details column, son/ = son of, b. = born, h/ = husband of, with a wife's maiden surname in brackets. "h/Mary Ann (Mayo)" is this woman, and is what identifies the "Mary Ezzy" of the 1884 probate notice as her. This replaces my earlier quotation, which reproduced my client's rendering rather than the source's.
Ezzy | Reuben William | 7 Apr 1851 | 3 Apr 1927 | 75 | son/William James & Mary Ann (Mayo); b. Grose Vale NSW, Australia; h/Jane Emiline (Wenban) | Millthorpe NSW
Monumental inscription for her eldest son, this tree's Reuban William Ezzey (#21772), whose birth year of 1851 the row gives as 7 Apr 1851. It names her as his mother with her maiden surname, Mayo - independent of her husband's own monument. Columns in the site's own order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery; dau/ and son/ mean daughter and son of, b. means born, h/ means husband of.
AND HIS WIFE MARY ANN / WHO DIED 1899. / EARLY PIONEERS OF MILLTHORPE
The Mary Ann lines of the same 1988 plaque (media 293). Confirms the 1899 death recorded on Mary Ann Mayo #21766. The companion family-history plaque (media 299) gives her years as 1829-1899.
Ezzey | John | 29 Oct 1795 | 29 May 1869 | 73 | son/William & Jane (Floyd); b. Richmond, New South Wales, Australia; h/Rebecca (Lamb) | Richmond Anglican NSW | Family Vault, Row 2, 41/42 SecA
Index row, cells quoted in the results table's own column order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery, Row/Plot. In Details, son/ = son of, followed by father and mother with her maiden surname in brackets; b. = born; h/ = husband of. "h/Rebecca (Lamb)" is #21770 and is the discriminator that makes this the right John Ezzey; the same index holds a second John Ezzy, his son #21787, who died at Ashford in 1872. Re-fetched and re-read 2026-08-29.
JOHN EZZEY / BORN OCTOBER 29 1795 / DIED MAY 29 [...] / ALSO / EDITH EUDORA EZZEY / [...] / DIED JUNE 12 1869
The John Ezzey lines of the same vault slab (media 291), quoted as far as legible; [...] marks illegible characters. Confirms the birth 29 Oct 1795 and death in May (the index reads 29 May 1869) already recorded on #21769. The slab also lists Sarah Ann Ezzy and Joseph Ezzey (d. Jan 1924, aged 84 = #21794); their lines are partly legible in the photograph.
Index row, field values quoted in the site's own column order: Family Name (married surname, maiden surname in brackets), Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery. In the Details column dau/ = daughter of, followed by father and mother with her maiden surname in brackets; b. = born; w/ = wife of. "w/John" is #21769. Naming both parents and the husband is the discriminator.
In Loving Memory Of / MY DEAR HUSBAND & / OUR DEAR FATHER / REUBEN EZZY / DIED 3 APRIL 1927 / AGED 76 YEARS
Left panel of the marble open-book headstone at Millthorpe, read from the photograph (media 286); line breaks marked with /. Confirms the death date 3 Apr 1927 and, via the age 76, the 1851 birth already recorded on #21772.

Henry Ezzy's own headstone inscription (Woronora Memorial Park, Portion Ang 2, Plot 0221). Father/Mother IDs are the site's own internal cross-links, matching the existing tree parents William James Ezzey #21765 and Mary Ann Mayo #21766 (family 6641) exactly. This parent link was previously present in the tree with no citation; this fills that gap.
ELIZA 1874 - 1874 / CHILDREN OF WILLIAM JAMES AND MARY ANN EZZY
The Eliza line of the children's plaque (media 298). Confirms the infant Eliza #21781, born and died 1874, as a child of William James and Mary Ann Ezzy - the fact the existing austcem index citation 49618 on family 6641 records from the index row (2 Jan 1874 - 6 Feb 1874, aged 5 weeks).
Ezzy | John | 5 Mar 1824 | 28 Sep 1872 | 48 | son/John & Rebecca (Lamb); b. Mulgrave Place, New South Wales, Australia; h/Charlotte (Cornwell) | Ashford NSW
Index row, field values in the site's own column order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery. son/ = son of, b. = born, h/ = husband of, maiden surnames in brackets. Gives the exact death date, an age of 48 consistent with the 5 Mar 1824 birth the tree already holds, and names both parents and his wife Charlotte Cornwell.
Ezzey | Henry | 4 Apr 1826 | 15 Dec 1898 | 72 | son/John & Rebecca (Lamb); b. Mulgrave Place (now Cornwallis), Windsor NSW, Australia; h/Mary Anne (Witney) | Richmond Anglican NSW | 5, 86 Sect A
Index row, cells quoted in the results table's own column order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery, Row/Plot. In Details, son/ = son of, followed by father and mother with her maiden surname in brackets; b. = born; h/ = husband of. The discriminators are the exact birth date, the exact death date and the birthplace, all three of which the tree already holds independently; the parents John and Rebecca (Lamb) are #21769 and #21770. This is the record that answers the death index's "ELIZABETH" in the mother column.
Her daughter Rebecca's monument (#21770). Index row, field values quoted in the site's own column order: Family Name (married surname, maiden surname in brackets), Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery. In the Details column dau/ = daughter of, followed by father and mother with the mother's maiden surname in brackets. This is the source of the middle name Caroline and of the Chambers spelling with an s; BDA's index of the same daughter's birth record, already cited on this person, spells her "Elizabeth CHAMBER".
Ezzy | William | 1765 | 23 Apr 1830 | 65 | son/William & Mary (Golding); b. Beenham, Berkshire, England; h/Jane (Floyd) & Jane (Mills) | Windsor Anglican Church NSW
Index row, field values quoted in the site's own column order: Family Name, Given Names, Birth, Death, Age, Details, Cemetery. son/ = son of, b. = born, h/ = husband of, with maiden surnames in brackets. "h/Jane (Floyd)" is what ties this man to the John Ezzey whose own monument reads "son/William & Jane (Floyd)". The same index carries a second, thinner row for the same man at Devonshire Street, Sydney - "Ezzy | William | 1765 | 23 Apr 1830 | 64 | h/Jane (Floyd) | Devonshire Street NSW" - which gives the age as 64 where the Windsor row says 65. Hence ABT 1765 rather than an exact year.
Memory Of / OUR DEAR MOTHER / JANE EMILINE / EZZY / DIED NOV. 30. 1955 / AGED 98 YEARS
Right panel of the same headstone (media 286). Confirms the death date 30 Nov 1955 and, via the age 98, the 1857 birth already recorded on Jane Emiline Wenban #21815, buried with her husband Reuben #21772.

Supplies exact birth date+place (was 'ABT 1860', no place) and a death place (was unset; the BURI event already used placeId 304 'Woronora, New South Wales, Australia', now also set on DEAT).

Supplies an exact death date (was year-only '1976') and a death place. '(Exxy)' quoted verbatim as the source's own typo for Ezzy. Age '83?' carries the source's own uncertainty flag - not treated as settled, not added to the tree.

James Cleasby | GRAVE | 26 Nov 1927 | 90 | Sandgate NSW | William | Elizabeth | Annie | 1837? | son/William & Elizabeth; h/Annie
Monumental inscription transcript, values in the index's own field order: Name | record type | date of death | age at death | cemetery | father | mother | spouse | born | detail. "son/" is son of, "h/" is husband of. The "?" on the born field is the transcriber's uncertainty marker.
Annie Cleasby | GRAVE | 21 Feb 1929 | 87 | Sandgate NSW | Michael | Mary | James | 1842? | dau/Michael & Mary; w/James
Monumental inscription transcript, values in the index's own field order: Name | record type | date of death | age at death | cemetery | father | mother | spouse | born | detail. "dau/" is daughter of, "w/" is wife of. The "?" on the born field is the transcriber's uncertainty marker.

Her infant daughter's inscription, same field order but with a birthplace field in place of the born year: Name | record type | date of death | age at death | cemetery | father | mother | birthplace | detail. This is the entry that supplies the maiden name Cockland; the index writes a married woman's maiden name in brackets.
Dorothy Cleasby | GRAVE | 5 Dec 1876 | 1 1/4 | Hartley Vale NSW | James | Ann (Cockland) | Chambers Creek, Near Bathurst NSW, Australia | dau/James & Ann (Cockland); b. Chambers Creek, Near Bathurst NSW, Australia
Monumental inscription transcript, values in the index's own field order: Name | record type | date of death | age at death | cemetery | father | mother | birthplace | detail. "dau/" is daughter of; the index writes a married woman's maiden name in brackets. The age reads "1 1/4" - one and a quarter years - which does not sit with the 1876 birth year on this record.
Ipswich General Cemetery database entry; corroborated by the matching death date, age, spouse link (Spouse ID 15849239 = Bridget O'Flaherty) and BDM death registration below.
Search-results row, columns in the site's own order: married surname (maiden)|given name|birth year (transcriber's own '?')|death date|age at death|parents & spouse|cemetery. Detail page returned 'Server Overloaded' on every retry this session. Confirms death date/age/parents/spouse and the cemetery here; the hedged birth year is proposed separately at lower confidence (companion proposal).
Transcriber's own '?' after 1841 is their hedge, not mine; rendered as 'ABT 1841'. Same search-row already cited on this person's death date/place in the companion proposal.
"McAuley | Samuel | 1812? | 22 Jun 1899 | 87 | son/Alexander & Anne (Paterson); b. Ballintoy, Antrim, Ireland; h/Anne (Kilpatrick)"
Names both parents and gives his birthplace as Ballintoy in north Co Antrim - the townland-level detail that no Irish record could supply for a pre-1864 birth. Corroborated by an obituary in the Kiama Independent, 29 June 1899, reporting that he arrived in Sydney from Ireland in 1838, lived five years on the Berkeley Estate, died aged 85 at Thirroul, and was survived by his wife aged 84.
"McAuley (Kilpatrick) | Anne | 4 Jun 1807 | 17 Nov 1905 | 87? | dau/William & Sarah (McLachlin); b. Kilmorg, Antrim, Ireland; w/Samuel"
Names both parents. The death date and the birth day and month match the tree exactly. The birth YEAR of 1807 is not accepted: the stated age of "87?" and an 1899 newspaper report giving her as 84 both support the tree's 1817, and 1807 would make her 98 at death. The birthplace is transcribed "Kilmorg", which matches no known Co Antrim townland and could not be identified against the placenames databases; likely candidates near Ballintoy would be Kilmoyle, Kilmore or Kilmahamogue, but none is asserted here. Burial in a Presbyterian cemetery establishes the family's denomination.
Johann Ernst August Pech | GRAVE | 3 Jul 1962 | 86 | Laura SA | Maria Bertha
His headstone row, cells in the index's own column order: Name, Event, Date, Age, Place, Spouse. Retrieved 2026-09-05. He had NO death date at all before this. The age of 86 fits the 20 October 1875 birth already recorded. His wife's paired stone reads "Maria Bertha Pech | GRAVE | 6 Apr 1962 | 82 | Laura SA | Johann Ernst August" β she died three months before him β and she is not created here. He is the "Ernest (Laura)" of his father's 1934 obituary.
Given names: Maria Rosina | Family Name: Obst | Birth/Maiden Name: Heidrich | Birth Date: 8 Mar 1822 | Gender: F | Death Date: 17 Aug 1893 | Age: 71 | Cemetery: Light Pass Strait Gate Lutheran | Father Given Names: Johann Christian | Mother Given Names: Marie Eleonore | Mother Birth/Maiden Name: Neumann | Spouse Given Names: Johann Carl Friedrich
Austcem monument transcription, inscription 16319397, Light Pass Strait Gate Lutheran cemetery SA. Corroborated by the linked spouse inscription 16319396 (Johann Carl Friedrich Obst, birth 29 Nov 1821 / death 1 May 1876 β exact match to this person's existing husband #58602) and by the page's Related Inscriptions listing daughter Johanne Christiane Tscharke (Obst), matching tree person #59071 (married Heinrich Tscharke). Tree's existing birthDate 11 SEP 1848 was impossible against 3 older children and gave an implausible maternal age for all 7 children; the monument's stated birth date (8 Mar 1822, matching her husband's generation) resolves every one of them.
George Stanley Cleasby | GRAVE | 23 Dec 1973 | 76 | Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens and Crematorium NSW
One row, fetched 2026-09-04 through the genealogy-cli austcem command, cells as rendered: Name | Event | Date | Age | Place. The record's born field reads '1897?' - the transcriber's query mark, so not relied on, but consistent with the tree's 1897. Death 23 Dec 1973 agrees with the Ryerson row; a memorial-garden transcription, hence secondary.
