The compiler cites the NSW registrations as well as the stone, which is why this is worth more than a transcription: 5148/1857 for the birth and 1970/1881 for the marriage are checkable NSW index numbers, and C1056/1937 a Queensland death. His birth at Braidwood in 1857 puts him in the same small goldfields town as Samuel Finch's family, who kept the Cottage of Content Inn in Wallace Street there — which is how he came to marry Theresa Ada. Quality 2: an index compiled from a stone plus registration numbers, not the registers themselves.

Both name his parents, which is why he is created. A LIKELY IDENTIFICATION I HAVE NOT ASSERTED: the birth index holds no Gordon to this couple, but it holds ERNEST G 10109/1892 at Carcoar to JAMES J and MARY, and aged 45 in September 1938 gives a birth in 1892 or 1893. He is very probably that child, known by his second name. Ernest G is therefore NOT created as a separate person, because doing so would almost certainly build a duplicate; if a record ever separates the two, add him then. This is also why his birth is ABT 1893 from the age rather than 1892 from that registration.
