User-contributed memorial index. Entries may derive from burial registers rather than surviving headstones, so a memorial does not imply a marked grave. Dates are contributor-supplied and are not themselves primary; the plot references are the harder-to-obtain detail.

SCOBIE / IN LOVING MEMORY OF / THOMAS J. SCOBIE M.D., C.M. / 1884 - 1962 / HIS BELOVED WIFE / LILLIAN EDITH MANCHESTER / 1893 - 1978
Read from the photograph (media 250). Matches the tree (28 Aug 1884 - 9 Jun 1962). His wife Lillian Edith Manchester (1893-1978) is named on the stone but is not in the tree - reported as a lead, not created.
Read from the photograph (media 275), a small weathered flat marker; the third digit of the year is partly earth-covered but consistent only with 1967, his BC-registered death year (2 Apr 1967, Victoria).
SAMUEL M. SCOBIE / CAPTAIN / ROYAL ENGINEERS / 28 DEC. 1962 - AGE 74
Read from the photograph (media 276), a military marker. The stone supplies the exact death date (28 Dec 1962) where the tree has only 1962; aged 74 is consistent with the tree's 1888. Rank and corps (Captain, Royal Engineers) are stone detail not previously cited. Fill-a-null candidate for a follow-up, not changed here.
Alexander Moffat "Sandy" Scobie 1893-1920, child of Cyrus Scobie and Annie Pettapiece
WikiTree Scobie-315 gives born 12 May 1893 North Gower, Carleton, Ontario and died 14 Feb 1920 Medicine Hat, Alberta. His middle name Moffat is his mother's mother's surname (Charlotte Moffatt), which independently supports the parentage.

Death date from the BC Archives index: RUSSELL GEORGE SCOBIE, death 1967-04-12, age 67, PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia, registration 1967-09-007248. Mary Stiller Birth 6 Aug 1875 Death 1 Jul 1959 (aged 83) Burial Peak Hill General Cemetery Peak Hill , Parkes Shire , New South Wales , Australia Plot Ang Memorial ID 261353114
The memorial's overview panel, read 2026-09-05. Contributor-entered dates, hence quality 1 β but they resolve a question the death index left open: a row "STILLER MARY | 27193/1959 | JAMES | MARGARET | PEAK HILL" existed and could have been a daughter-in-law; a death on 1 July 1959 at Peak Hill aged 83 matches it and makes her Leo Paul's widow, with her own parents James and Margaret. HER MAIDEN SURNAME IS STILL UNKNOWN β she is indexed under her married name, so the surname slot is left empty rather than filled with Stiller, and the app derives "Mary Stiller" from the marriage. She outlived her husband by 22 years.

The identical Children panel on both parents' memorials. It is what places Lucy Eliza in this family, but the link is not proposed on it alone: Lucy's own NSW death index row, 8867/1964, gives her parents as BENJAMAN and AMELIA (already cited on her death event), and her 1875 birth at Taree falls inside the couple's documented Lansdowne child-bearing years. Her brother Edwin Charles Saville married a Margaret Emily Crassingham, buried at Lansdowne, so the Saville-Crossingham connection runs twice through the same two families. The other eight children are NOT created here β their parentage needs the NSW birth index rows, queued for a browser.

The memorial's Gravesite Details field. Read as: son of John and Rebecca, husband of Mary and Amelia. NOW CONFIRMED, and it turned out to be the key that opened the line. His 1896 death registration records both parents as UNKNOWN and his convict indent gives only the county, so no Australian record could corroborate this β but an Essex non-conformist register does: Benjamin Savell, born 17 November 1814, baptised Hatfield Heath 23 July 1815, parents John Savell and Rebecca. These two given names, transcribed from an Australian grave, are what let the English record be recognised as his, and they are why the identification does not rest circularly on a shared birth date. Raised from quality 1 to 2 accordingly: still a transcriber's note rather than an inscription, but a corroborated one.
