For “Immigrated” 1838 of Johann Gottlob Paech

Mr. Paech belonged to a little band of religious refugees, who, on account of persecution and oppression in Prussia, sacrificed most of their earthly belongings and sought a country where they would he free from new doctrines and unjust laws imposed upon them, and where they found religious liberty and were allowed to worship as their consciences approved. Shortly after this little band of pioneers had landed, their capable and resourceful leader, Captain Hahn, pilotted them over the almost unexplored Mount Lofty Ranges. Suitable land was found in one of the valleys of the Mount Barker Ranges, and here the captain laid out the township, which was named after him, Hahndorf.

For Johann Gottlob Paech (1824–1912)

On Thursday afternoon one of the oldest colonists of this district, Mr. Gott-lob Paech, of Friedrichstadt, died at his residence in his 88th. year. He was born in Kia, Prussia, and landed at Port Adelaide in the year 1838 in the ship Zebra, commanded by Captain Hahn.

'Kia, Prussia' is evidently the same place as brother Johann Georg Paech's #54238 recorded birthplace 'Kay, Brandenburg, Prussia' (place #8328; family 16470 shares the same parents) - applied here to fill Gottlob's previously-null birthplace. Death in 1912 aged ~88 is consistent with the tree's existing birth year 1824.

His wife died in 1897. Three daughters Mrs. Ferdinand Mueller, Mrs. Paul Braendler. and Mrs. Guide Braend-ler survive him.

His wife died in 1897. Three daughters Mrs. Ferdinand Mueller, Mrs. Paul Braendler. and Mrs. Guide Braend-ler survive him.

Confirms Johanne Martha Paech #54256 as 'Mrs Paul Braendler', matching her recorded marriage to Paul Braendler #54268 (family 16479); also names two further married sisters (Mrs Ferdinand Mueller, Mrs Guido Braendler) not yet identified in the tree.
