Ancestry's index to the East Sussex marriage and banns registers, with images. Browser-and-signed-in only: a plain fetch of a record URL returns a signup page and no record data. Rows cited from it here were read in a signed-in browser by the coordinator and relayed, so they are quoted as relayed rather than in the site's own column order, and no per-record URLs were captured. Like its sibling collection 62125 it keys some entries more than once and can read the same date two ways - the Crossingham-Tolhurst marriage appears as both 3 and 4 November 1833.

For “Married” 4 NOV 1833 of Richard Crossingham & Henrietta Tolhurst

RICHARD CROSSINGHAM/CRASSINGHAM × HENRIETTA TOLHURST | 4 Nov 1833 (one row 3 Nov) | FAIRLIGHT

Ancestry index rows for collection 62126, relayed by the orchestrator from a signed-in browser on 2026-09-08 in the form quoted. THE 3-NOVEMBER READING IS NOW EXCLUDED: the East Sussex Record Office typescript behind these rows has been read (media 420) and gives 4 November, so the two keyings were one entry read two ways, as this collection also does with Sarah Watson's 1814/15 Brede baptism. The 1833-37 sweep of the collection for Cr*ssingham returned five marriages in all and this is the only one that can be theirs. It fits everything else: their first child was baptised at Icklesham on 9 February 1834, and Fairlight adjoins the Icklesham-Pett-Guestling group where this family lived. WHY IT WAS NEVER FOUND BEFORE: FreeREG does not transcribe Fairlight at all, and its Sussex-wide Crossingham marriage list for 1826-1840 holds exactly one entry, Walter Wise to Eliza Crossingham at Icklesham in 1833, which is his sister's.
