For “Baptised” 11 APR 1813 of Richard Crossingham

Apl 11 | CROSSINGHAM | Richard s. of Thomas & Kaziah | Labourer | Little Brede

Brede parish register, baptisms 1813, under the header 'BREDE PAR/253/1/2/1 BAPTISMS 1813'. Quoted field-by-field in the register's own column order (date, surname, entry, father's occupation, abode). NOTE WHAT THIS IS: a TYPED TRANSCRIPT held by The Keep (East Sussex Record Office), not a photograph of the register page - so it carries a transcriber between us and the original, though it is an archive's own transcript rather than a volunteer index. Reached through Ancestry's 'East Sussex, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1920' (collection 62125), which keys this one event four times, twice to Brede (records 1981900, 204421) and twice to Udimore (1768609, 2750164); the Udimore pair point at a different image, the Udimore register PAR/497/1/2/1. Indexed in NEITHER FreeREG (which does not transcribe Brede at all) NOR FamilySearch, which is why five earlier searches missed it.

The occupation column of his son Richard's baptism entry in the Brede register transcript. His trade is not stable across the registers: labourer here in 1813, CARPENTER at his son Thomas's Icklesham baptism in 1817, labourer again at Harriot's in 1822. Transcript, not the register page.

For Thomas Crossingham & Keziah Noakes

Apl 11 | CROSSINGHAM | Richard s. of Thomas & Kaziah | Labourer | Little Brede

An English parish register naming this couple as Richard's parents - the first, the NSW death registration 5972/1874 ('THOMAS | KEZIA') and the Lansdowne headstone ('son/Thomas & Kezia') being colonial records made sixty years later. 'Kaziah' is a fourth attested spelling of her name, beside Keziah (the 1804 Rye marriage), Kezia (the Icklesham baptisms) and Kesiah. Transcript, not the register page.
