For “Died” 25 AUG 1907 of Joseph Rambler Barber
On Sunday last there passed away another very old resident in the person of Mr. Joseph Barber, of West Kempsey. The deceased was 86 years of age. He leaves numerous descendants also, particulars of whom were not available at the time of going to press.
Trove OCR, read in full this session. "Sunday last" before Thursday 29 August 1907 is 25 August, which matches the registration and the monument. Its "86 years of age" agrees with the monument and corrects the Macleay Argus death notice already cited on this person, which reads "Aged 80 years and 3 months" — a figure that fits no candidate. The Port Macquarie News of 31 August 1907 (Trove 119147230) carries the same news third-hand: "Mrs. Catherine Lee, of East Kempsey, and Mr. Joseph Barber, of West Kempsey, both over the age of 80 years, have also passed away."
