For James Henry Tuckett (1850–1929)

In 1904 he was elected a councillor of the Numurkah shire for the Western Riding, the election also carrying with it the position of commissioner of the Water Trust. During the 24 years he held office he served the ratepayers faithfully, and that his work was recognised is shown in the fact that he was invariably accorded a walkover when his three-year terms expired by effluxion of time. He occupied the position of President of the shire on different occasions.
