Quality 2 rather than 3 because a baptism is evidence of a birth, not the record of it, and because the identification of this baptism with our John is an inference (parish plus age) rather than a document naming him twice.

This entry is the one the FamilySearch index of his burial implies without being able to name: FamilySearch gives 'John Savil | Burial 8 March 1815 | Essex | Birth 1781' with no parish, and the Takeley burial register gives his age as 34, both pointing at a birth in 1780-81. Matching is the only Essex parish where a John Savill or Saville is baptised in that window AND where he is recorded resident at his marriage.

The register transcription behind FamilySearch ark 7B6L-8B3Z, which gives the same date and the same two names but does not display the parish. This answers the question left open on citation 53647: the parish is MATCHING, and both parties were resident there. It also disposes of an earlier lead - a Peacock marriage entry of 14 October 1805 at Hatfield Broad Oak, read this session, which turns out to be James Wright and Sarah Peacock, not ours.

Entered under her second married surname. Matching's registers of these years show one Rebecca Lambert as a wife - the Rebecca Savill, widow, who married William Lambert there in 1820 - against Lambert households headed by John and Mary, Thomas and Ann, Thomas and Susan, George and Sarah, and James and Sarah. The age of 88 matches a woman married in 1805. A second Rebecca Lambert, aged 16, was buried at Matching in 1873 and is a granddaughter, not this woman.

A Savill widow named Rebecca, of Matching, remarrying five years after John Savill's burial. Matching's registers show no other Savill widow of that name in the period, and the couple's two baptisms of 1821 and 1823 keep them in the parish, where Rebecca Lambert was buried in 1869 aged 88.
