The State Archives' combined index to the deceased estate (death duty) files: name, place, date of death, date duty paid and the archival item and reel numbers. An index only — the file itself is on microfilm at the Western Sydney Records Centre and is not digitised. Searchable both on the mhnsw.au page and through the State Archives' Primo catalogue at search.records.nsw.gov.au (vid=61SRA), where each row has a permanent docid; the catalogue answers scripted JSON requests once a guest token is obtained, which is how this row was read. A duty file exists only where the estate was large enough to be assessed, so absence is not evidence that a person died elsewhere.

For “Died” 12 AUG 1917 of Michael Sullivan

SULLIVAN Michael | Item No: [19/10248] | Real No: 3032 | Place: Enfield | Date of Death: 12/08/1917 | Date Duty Paid: 20/09/1917

The record's own labelled fields, in the order the catalogue page renders them; "Real No" is the site's own misspelling of Reel No and is quoted as it stands. This is an official record, made for revenue purposes within six weeks of the death, and it gives the same date and the same suburb as the Sydney Morning Herald death notice of 14 August 1917 cited beside it. It is therefore the independent confirmation the 1917 identification previously lacked.
