Quoted across the register's printed columns: When Baptized | Child's Christian Name | Parents Name Christian | Surname | Abode | Quality, Trade, or Profession | By whom the Ceremony was performed. THE YEAR IS 1815 and the page settles it: the header spans two years, entries No. 73-75 are December, No. 76 is 'January 8th' and this is No. 77. Ancestry keys the same entry twice, as 1814 (record 204484) and 1815 (record 1981963), which is that header artefact. It agrees independently with the 1838 James Pattison entitlement certificate, transcribed on WikiTree Watson-26239 as 'Age: 23 last birthday 27 December 1837' - born 27 December 1814, baptised sixteen days later. NOTE: the media row's auto-generated title says 'page 12'; the register's own page number is 10 and the facing page 11, which is what my locators use.

The parents' and abode columns of Sarah's Brede baptism, naming William and Jane Watson of Brede, he a labourer. Corroborated independently by the 1838 James Pattison entitlement certificate, transcribed on WikiTree Watson-26239 as 'Parents names William Watson, labourer & Jane', native place 'Bueds [? probably Brede], Sussex' - the same two names, the same parish AND the same trade, twenty-three years and half a world apart. Sarah's own middle name, Jane, is her mother's. Jane is in the tree without a surname; hers is unknown and is not invented. A DIFFERENT WATSON HOUSEHOLD stands in the same two parishes and is still deliberately NOT joined to this one: William x ANN, who baptised Elizabeth at Brede in 1794 (buried there 1795), William at Brede in 1796, Ann at Udimore in 1805 and David at Udimore in 1809 - that last entry is visible on media 399, the page that also carries John Field's baptism. Either Ann died and William remarried Jane before 1815, or there are two William Watsons here. THE TEST HAS NOW BEEN RUN AND FAILED TO DECIDE IT (2026-09-08): an Ann Watson burial between 1808 and 1816 was searched in BOTH East Sussex burial collections - 62049 (pre-1813) returns only a John Watson buried at Bexhill 1808/09, and 62128 (post-1813) returns Mrs Ann Watson, born about 1770, buried at BRIGHTON on 16 July 1815, plus two Jane Watsons (Playden 1813, Brighton 1816) and John Watsons at Eastbourne, Rye and Guestling. No Ann Watson was buried at Brede or Udimore in that window, so the two households remain unjoined and the question is open, not answered. Also in the district, unconnected: Samuel Watson married Barbara at Udimore 1 December 1806, a Samuel and Fanny buried a son Thomas at Brede in January 1804, Walter and Maria Watson baptised Maria at Brede in 1818, and James and Harriet baptised James Watson-Boots there in 1832.
