STILLER HALLIDAY A very quiet but pretty wedding took place at the Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon, when Beryl, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Halliday, formerly of Narromine but now of Sydney, was married to Ronald Verdun, youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. L. P. Stiller, of Peak Hill. The Rev. J. E. W. Hill performed the ceremony. Mrs. Winnie Hobbs, of Sydney, attended the bride as matron of honor and Mr. Mervyn Harris was best man. Afterwards a reception was held at the home of the bridegroom's mother where about thirty guests were received.
The notice quoted whole, from Trove's OCR read this session. It confirms the pedigree independently of the registers: L. P. Stiller of Peak Hill dead by May 1947, his widow living and hosting the reception at her home, and Ronald Verdun their son. "Youngest son" is true only of the survivors — Alfred R was born in 1919, three years after Ronald, and died about 1922. THE DATE: "on Saturday afternoon" before a Friday 30 May 1947 issue means 24 May, but the paper does not print that, so the event carries the month only. THE PLACE: "the Methodist Church" is not located by the notice, so none is recorded; the bride's family were "formerly of Narromine but now of Sydney". The Methodist affiliation is itself worth noting against any assumption that this family is Lutheran.
