For Beatrice Murgatroyd (d. 1956)

Since my last there has been nothing of any importance to write about, with tbe exception of a wedding which took place on Wednesday, 13th May, the contracting parties being Beatrice, eldest daughter of Mr. Charles Murgatroyd, of this town, and Mr. Alfred Orme, of Manus.

Contemporaneous newspaper report of the wedding, published 13 days after the event, naming Beatrice as 'eldest daughter of Mr. Charles Murgatroyd' -- matches the tree's parents for Beatrice (Charles Benjamin Murgatroyd + Catherine Jane Cottier, family 3194; also confirmed by the QLD BDM 1956 death index, ref 1956/B/12819, which names the same two parents). This proves the marriage happened in 1896 as an adult daughter, which makes the person row's birthDate '1900' impossible -- that value was derived only from an age given on a 1932 outward passenger list (citations #10998/#10999/#10997, a 'Record for Mrs Beatrice A Orme' index tag, not a direct birth record). Her first child Ethel Louisa Orme was already born in 1897.
