A CHECKED NEGATIVE, recorded so nobody searches this index again. The whole Assisted Immigrants Index 1839-1896 was read for SULLIVAN and O'SULLIVAN (552 Sullivan rows in the index; 28 Michaels and 9 Julias) and this family is not in it. The only married Michael-and-Julia pair arriving at Sydney in the emigration window is the couple quoted here, and they travelled as a couple with no children — the index marks them "and wife" and "and husband", not "and family" — where Michael and Julia Sullivan left Cork with at least six living children born 1864-1874. The three 1877-1879 Sydney ships that do carry a Sullivan "and family" (Annie H Smith, Nineveh, Ellora) have Cornelius, Timothy and Margaret at the head of the household, not Michael. So the family paid its own passages: the unassisted passenger lists for 1875-1880, which are not indexed by name at State Archives, are where they will be found. Quality 1 because the quoted rows are a rejected candidate, not evidence of anything about this family.
