For Johanna Sullivan (1866β1941)
SULLIVAN HANNAH | 21255/1941 | MICHAEL | JULIA | BURWOOD
NSW death index, columns Name | Registration number | Father | Mother | District. Parents Michael and Julia; Strathfield, Enfield and Croydon all lie in or adjoin the Burwood registration district. Registered as HANNAH, not Johanna, which is why the aka row is added.

For Lucy Jane Cole (1864β1934)
GRENENGER LUCY J | 17628/1934 | HENRY | HARRIET J | EDEN
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. The parent columns carry Henry and Harriet J across to her death in NSW seventy years after the Victorian birth registration β the same couple on both records. Registered in the Eden district, which contains Pambula.

For Henry Cole (1841β1914)
COLE HENRY | 4324/1927 | THOMAS C | MARY | QUEANBEYAN
EXCLUDED 2026-09-08 β kept for the reasoning, not as evidence. This was the least-bad of three NSW death rows for a Henry Cole with a father Thomas, offered at quality 1 as a candidate while his death was unfound. His death is now identified: 8001/1914 at Randwick, aged 73, 'late of Kensington and Bega', with an SMH notice and a Waverley burial. The Queanbeyan man of 1927 is somebody else. Quality is set to 0 so the row cannot be mistaken for support.

COLE HENRY | 8001/1914 | 73 YRS RANDWICK | RANDWICK
NSW BDM historical death index row. Note the PRE-1914 LAYOUT: where the modern rows carry the father's and mother's given names, the older ones carry the age and place instead, so '73 YRS RANDWICK' occupies the parent column and there are no parents here. Age 73 in June 1914 gives a birth in 1840 or 1841, matching the Tintinhull baptism of March 1841. Kensington is in the Randwick registration district.

For Harriet Jane Meaker (1839β1901)
COLE HARRIET J | 5252/1901 | GEORGE | | EDEN
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; the mother's column is blank on this row. The father's given name GEORGE carries across from her High Ham christening of 1839 to her death at Eden in 1901 β the same George Meaker on both sides of the world, which is what ties the Somerset family to the Australian one.

For Vera Harriett Grenenger (1896β1898)
GRENENGER VERA H | 13368/1898 | WILLIAM H | LUCY J | BURWOOD
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. She died at Burwood, where her grandfather Wenzel then lived, not at Pambula β the family were still in Sydney in 1898. Her second name carries her maternal grandmother's: Harriet Jane Meaker.

GRENENGER VERA H | 11601/1896 | WILLIAM H | LUCY J | CANTERBURY
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. Her birth year had been estimated ABT 1896 from her age at death (2 in November 1898); the registration confirms 1896 and adds the district, Canterbury β so the family were at Canterbury in 1896 and Burwood by 1898, when she died.

GRENENGER ARTHUR E B | 11021/1898 | WILLIAM H | LUCY J | BURWOOD

For Wenzel Albert Grenenger (1878β1950)
GRENENGER WENZEL ALBERT | 999999/1950 | 44M1441 | BRAIDWOOD
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. The 999999 registration number and the 44M1441 reference in place of the parent columns are how the NSW registry indexes a death that occurred abroad and was registered here β consistent with his dying in Nyasaland. It gives his full given names, Wenzel Albert, which the 1950 newspaper item abbreviates to W. A.

For Wenzel Albert Grenenger (1878β1950)
GRENENGER [W]ENSIL A | 9893/1878 | JAMES E | ELIZABETH | BRAIDWOOD
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; the leading bracket is the orchestrator's mark for an uncertain first letter in the index rendering. 'Wensil A' is Wenzel Albert, and the parent columns are James E and Elizabeth β James Ernest Grenenger #83016 and Elizabeth Brown. He had NO birth date at all until now. Born at Braidwood in 1878, he would have been about 21 when he went to the Boer War and about 26 when he wrote home from Central Angoniland in 1904, which fits everything the Braidwood Dispatch says about him.

COLE HENRY | 8244/1866 | HENRY | HARRIET J | EDEN
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. His death is the row COLE HENRY | 9098/1943 | HENRY | HARRIET JANE | EDEN β the same parent pair, so the 1943 death is the SON and not his father. Henry senior's own death has not been found at Eden or Bega and remains open.

For Thelma May Grenenger (1905β1972)
GRENENGER THELMA M | 13470/1905 | WILLIAM H | LUCY J | GRANVILLE
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. The parent columns name William H and Lucy J, so she is a fifth child of William Henry #82926 and Lucy Jane Cole, five years after Sydney Montague and registered at Granville rather than Burwood β the family were moving. She was missed by the household proposal.

For James Ernest Grenenger (1864β1953)
GRENENGER JAMES E | 6534/1864 | JAMES ERNEST | ELIZABETH | BRAIDWOOD
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. The eldest son, born three years after his parents' 1861 marriage at St Bede's, Braidwood, and named for his father. His death is NSW 23216/1953 ('Ernest James Γ Elizabeth', Dubbo) and the Ryerson Index has 'James Ernest GRENENGER | DEAT | 24JUL1953 | 90 | at Dubbo, late of Hurlstone Park' β age 90 in 1953 would give 1863, one year off the registration. He is the James J of the Carcoar birth registrations 1888-1905 to James J and Mary A; those seven children are not created here.

For Gertrude Grenenger (1881β1966)
GRENENGER GERTRUDE | 12109/1881 | JAMES ERNEST | ELIZABETH | BRAIDWOOD
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. Her death is NSW 23817/1966, parents Ernest and Elizabeth Gunning; the Ryerson Index has 'Gertrude (Mary) (Sister) GRENENGER | DEAT | 05AUG1966 | at Convent of Mercy Gunning, late of Braidwood' β she became a nun, which is why the death row reads 'Gunning' as a place and not a surname. The 1966 death year is taken from the registration; the exact date is left off pending the notice itself. NOT to be confused with her first cousin Gertrude R H #82930, b. 1881 Canterbury to Wenzel and Jane Sarah β two Gertrude Grenengers born in the same year to two brothers.

For Leslie Augustus Grenenger (1883β1965)
GRENENGER LESLIE A | 13528/1883 | JAMES ERNEST | ELIZABETH | BRAIDWOOD
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. The Australian Cemeteries Index gives him as 'Leslie Augustus Grenenger | GRAVE | 15 Jan 1965 | 81 | Woronora Memorial Park NSW | son/Ernest & Elizabeth (Brown); h/Mena Maria (Lee)', and the Ryerson Index as 'Leslie Augustus GRENENGER | DEAT | 15JAN1965 | 81 | late of Mortdale, formerly of Braidwood'. His four children by Mena Maria Lee are registered at Braidwood 1911-1917 and are not created here.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Esther Elizabeth Brown (1881β1963)
ESTHER ELIZABETH 288/1963 82 yrs Petersham
NSW BDM historical death index row as condensed in the orchestrator's log of the GRENENGER deaths sweep rather than in the site's own column layout β the row carries an age and district where the parent columns would normally sit, so no parents are recorded for her. Age 82 in 1963 gives a birth about 1881. Identified as Wenzel Albert's widow by surname, era and the absence of any other Esther Elizabeth Grenenger in the index; her maiden name Brown comes from the marriage registration, not from this row.

For Kathleen Irene Wyatt (1900β1924)
GRENENGER KATHLEEN I | 14519/1924 | GEORGE | BELLINGEN
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District. Her father was a GEORGE Wyatt; the mother's column is blank. Read in the browser by the orchestrator and relayed to me β I did not see the page. She died in the Bellingen district and was buried at Coffs Harbour. SHE DIED THE YEAR HER THIRD CHILD WAS BORN: Wallace was registered at Bellingen in 1924 and she died on 5 August 1924 aged 24.

For Mabel Grenenger (b. 1921)
GRENENGER MABEL | 32620/1921 | WENZEL S | KATHLEEN I | BELLINGEN
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; read in the browser by the orchestrator and relayed to me. Nothing further is known of her: no death, no marriage, and no cemetery row under Grenenger. Born 1921, she would be inside the marriage index's window if she married before 1976, so a bride-side search on GRENENGER Mabel is the next step.

For Wallace Grenenger (b. 1924)
GRENENGER [W]ALLACE | 36154/1924 | WENZEL S | KATHLEEN I | BELLINGEN
NSW BDM historical birth index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; read in the browser by the orchestrator and relayed to me, and the leading letter of the name was lost to the page slice β it is bracketed here as the relay gave it. HIS MOTHER DIED THE SAME YEAR, on 5 August 1924, aged 24, in the same Bellingen district. His father remarried in 1925. Nothing further is known of Wallace.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Andrew Barber (1828β1908)
BARBER ANDREW | 6016/1908 | JOHN | JANE | MACLEAN
Placed on the person as well as on the death event because its value here is the PARENT LINK, not the date. Andrew was created from a compiled family history along with seven siblings; this row, with his birth registration 53/1828 (parents JOHN and JANE, register CB) at the other end of his life, puts him in that family on the strength of two registrations. He is the first of the eight children of John Barber and Jane Wyer whose parentage does not rest on the compiled page, and to that extent he is a check on the other seven, which came from the same source and the same list.

For Frederick John Ernest Grenenger (d. 1936)
GRENENGER FREDERICK JOHN ERNEST | 9179/1936 | ERNEST | ELIZABETH | CROOKWELL
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; read in the browser by the orchestrator and relayed to me. ERNEST and ELIZABETH are James Ernest #83016 and Elizabeth Brown #83017. He is the 'Mr. F. E. Grenenger' to whom his father handed the Braidwood tannery, named in the 1918 Braidwood Dispatch obituary already cited on #83016: 'This business he transferred some years ago to his son, Mr. F. E. Grenenger'. His own three children are in the NSW birth index to FREDERICK J E and ISABELLA M β Douglas G 1896 St Leonards, Errol C K 1899 Braidwood, Isabel I 1908 Braidwood β and are not created here.

For Mary (1865β1951)
GRENENGER MARY | 14699/1951 | JOHN | MARY | MARRICKVILLE
NSW BDM historical death index row, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; read in the browser by the orchestrator and relayed to me. It gives the same parents as the cemetery index, John and Mary, arrived at independently β and no surname for either, which is why hers stays blank.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Pearl Grenenger (1888β1899)
GRENENGER PEARL | 18433/1888 | JAMES J | MARY A | CARCOAR ; GRENENGER PEARL | 8981/1899 | JAMES | MARY | CARCOAR
Her birth and death rows from the NSW BDM historical index, both columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; read in the browser by the orchestrator and relayed to me. The eldest child, dead at about eleven. Note the mother is indexed 'MARY A' on the birth and plain 'MARY' on the death β the same variation runs through the whole sibling set.

For Gladess J Grenenger (1890β1905)
GRENENGER GLADESS J | 9739/1890 | JAMES J | MARY A | CARCOAR ; GRENENGER GLADYS J | 897/1905 | JAMES | MARY | CARCOAR
NSW BDM index rows, columns Name | Registration number | Father's given name(s) | Mother's given name(s) | District; relayed by the orchestrator. She is registered GLADESS at birth and GLADYS at death, so both spellings are name rows. Dead at about fifteen.

GRENENGER ATHEL J | 2506/1895 | JAMES J | MARY | CARCOAR ; GRENENGER ATHOL JAMES | 27191/1957 | JAMES ERNEST | MARY | SYDNEY
NSW BDM index rows relayed by the orchestrator. Registered ATHEL at birth and ATHOL at death, so both are name rows; the death row spells his father in full, JAMES ERNEST, which is the link to #83103.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Lyall F J Grenenger (1897β1899)
GRENENGER LYALL F J | 20718/1897 | JAMES | MARY | CARCOAR ; GRENENGER LYALL J F | 5143/1899 | JAMES | MARY | CARCOAR
NSW BDM index rows relayed by the orchestrator. Dead at about two, in the same year as his sister Pearl β the family lost two children in 1899. His two initials are TRANSPOSED between the birth (F J) and the death (J F); the birth order is used and the death spelling is recorded here rather than as a separate name row, since neither expands to a full name.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Charles Avery (1830β1911)
Charles Γ Philp 1874 Grafton
NSW BDM marriage index row in the orchestrator's condensed form, hence quality 2 and no registration number. It confirms the compiled account of his SECOND marriage β "also Louisa Philp, 29 Oct 1874 in Grafton" β in year, wife and district. His first marriage, to Ruth Kemp at Grafton in 1852, falls before the civil register began in 1856 and so cannot appear in this sweep; its absence is a window effect, not a negative. This matters for him more than for his siblings: he is one of only two children of this couple absent from the birth index, so every record that fits the compiled account of his life is worth having.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For John Avery (1837β1886)
John Γ Butler 1871 Macleay River
RECORDED AS A CANDIDATE, quality 1, in the orchestrator's condensed form. The compiled account says this man "Married Ellen Butler in 1855" β the right wife's surname and the right district, but sixteen years earlier than this row. Two readings, and I do not choose between them. Either the compiled year is wrong and 1871 is his marriage, which would suit a man born in January 1837 rather better than a wedding at eighteen; or this is a different John Avery, of whom the same sweep offers two more (John Thomas Γ Deukworth 1876 Gunnedah, John Γ Long 1878 Sydney). Note that an 1855 marriage falls before the civil register began in 1856, so its absence from this sweep is a window effect and proves nothing either way. A certificate for the 1871 row would name the parties' parents and settle it.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Robert Henry Avery (1839β1893)
Robert Γ Helps 1864 Port Stephens
NSW BDM marriage index row, reaching me in the orchestrator's condensed form (groom given, bride surname, year, district) rather than as a full row, which is why it is quality 2 and carries no registration number. It confirms the compiled account of this man's marriage β "Married Rosetta Helps 20 Sep 1864 St Johns Stroud NSW" β in year, wife and district, Stroud lying within the Port Stephens district. Independently corroborated a second way: the Australian Cemeteries Index has their son as "John (Jack) Avery | 28 Aug 1933 | 67 | Kempsey West | father Robert | mother Rosetta (Helps)".
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For William Avery (1841β1910)
William Γ Ireland (Charlotte Elizabeth) 1877 Port Stephens
RECORDED AS AN UNASSIGNED CANDIDATE, not as evidence β quality 0 deliberately, and quoted in the orchestrator's condensed rendering rather than as a full index row. A second William Avery married in the Port Stephens district in 1877, fourteen years after this William married Margaretta Gill there. It cannot be a son of that 1863 marriage, who would be thirteen at most. So it is either this William remarrying after Margaretta died, or an unrelated man of the same name in the same district β and the second possibility is itself worth knowing, because a same-name, same-district contemporary is exactly what would produce the unexplained 1910 Stroud death row (15512/1910, father WILLIAM) already recorded against him at quality 0. No union is proposed on it. What would resolve all three problems at once is the 1877 certificate, or a death for Margaretta Gill between 1863 and 1877.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Eliza Florence Avery (1843β1919)
No Matching Records
A CHECKED NEGATIVE, recorded so it is not repeated β quality 0, and the quoted text is the search page's own literal response. The NSW BDM marriage index was searched in Chrome by the orchestrator for groom CLARKE with bride AVERY, 1858-1875, and returned nothing. The compiled family history has her marrying John Clarke on 14 November 1864 on the Myall River, and after 1856 a marriage certificate names both parties' parents, so this was the single best route to putting her parentage on a record. IT IS A NARROW NEGATIVE, and three things could still be true: the index may hold her under CLARK without the second E; the marriage may fall outside the 1858-1875 window; or she may have married outside New South Wales. It should not be read as evidence against the marriage, still less against her place in this family. Her situation as a whole: she is absent from the complete birth sweep on these parents for 1829-1856, which has a good explanation β she and her brother William are the two children born on the Clarence River in the early 1840s, before that district kept returns, and every sibling born at Sydney, Parramatta, Windsor or Goulburn IS indexed. Her death has one candidate, 4134/1919 at Auburn, rejected on this record because it names the mother ELIZA rather than Charlotte. She remains the last of the eleven resting on the compiled account alone.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For George Henry Avery (1847β1928)
George Γ Cook 1873 Macleay
NSW BDM marriage index row in the orchestrator's condensed form, hence quality 2 and no registration number. It confirms the compiled account β "Married twice: Rachel Cook, 24 Sep 1873, Kempsey" β in year, wife and district. Worth noting for the Barber side of this tree as well: his nephew Andrew Bartley Barber, eldest son of his sister Charlotte Emma, married a Margaret Cook at Kempsey in 1901, so the Avery and Cook families married twice a generation apart.
New South Wales historical birth, death and marriage index Β· NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
For Richard William Avery (1852β1908)
Richard Γ Darrington 1875 Macleay
NSW BDM marriage index row in the orchestrator's condensed form, hence quality 2 and no registration number. It confirms the compiled account β "Married Sophia Dorrington in Euroka 22 August 1875" β in year, wife and district, Euroka being on the Macleay near Kempsey; the index spells the bride Darrington and the compiled page Dorrington. She is independently in the Australian Cemeteries Index as "Sophia Avery (Durrington) | 20 Jan 1884 | Kempsey East | father William | mother Mary Ann | spouse Richard" β a third spelling of the same surname, which is the ordinary state of affairs in these records.

For Pearl Rosena Stallman (d. 1955)
STALLMAN PEARL ROSENA 441/1955 Father NATHAN Mother ANNE District SYDNEY
NSW BDM historical index, Deaths search (Family name STALLMAN, given PEARL, event range 1954-16/09/1956), read by the orchestrator in the owner's signed-in Chrome 2026-09-17/18 -- the one matching row. Columns: Name | Registration No./Year | Father's given name | Mother's given name | District. Confirms the Ryerson-sourced death (9 Mar 1955, Elizabeth Bay, Sydney Morning Herald notice 10 Mar 1955) with an exact registration number and, new here, both parents' given names -- Nathan (father) and Anne (mother). No day/month or age is published by this index. search_people found no 'Nathan Stallman' or 'Nathan Stallmann' in the tree, so this does not connect Pearl to the documented QLD Stallman/Stallmann family (which has no known Sydney branch this era); she remains an accurate but unconnected record.
