Two independent transcripts of this parish agree entry for entry. This is the only John Dinham baptised at Ilminster between 1770 and 1802, and both his census entries give his birthplace as Ilminster. Which William-and-Mary Dinham couple this is remains unsettled: Ilminster St Mary records five William Dinham x Mary marriages 1789-1803, of which two precede this baptism.

Quoting the Parish Register transcript verbatim (field-for-field; volunteer transcription, not the register image). A second, independent transcript ('Other Transcript') agrees on the relationship and both parents' forenames, and additionally cross-references a 'Sarah Manning, a pauper' buried 3 days later, 6 Nov 1793, as the probable mother - not asserted as fact here, see proposal note. Confirms this George (bapt. 25 Dec 1792) died in infancy, explaining the name being given again to #5000 (bapt. 11 Aug 1794).
