For John Dinham (1790–1852)
"DINHAM, JOHN - Age at Death (in years): 64 - GRO Reference: 1852 S Quarter in CHARD Volume 05C Page 307"
CONFLICT, recorded deliberately rather than resolved. Age 64 at a death on 17 Sep 1852 implies a birth between September 1787 and September 1788, which does not match the baptism of 14 Feb 1790 above (that would give age 62). Ages at death are informant-supplied and often wrong, but note that his wife's age at death points the same way, about two years earlier than the tree. It is possible the 1790 baptism is a different John Dinham. The recorded birth year has been left unchanged pending better evidence.

For Ann Hodges (1788–1864)
"DINHAM, ANN - Age at Death (in years): 76 - GRO Reference: 1864 M Quarter in CHARD Volume 05C Page 402 - 1 Record(s) Found"
Searched the whole of 1864 for female Dinham deaths with NO district filter, and the index returned exactly one record in all of England and Wales. The same search under the spelling ANNE returned nothing. Age 76 in the March quarter of 1864 implies a birth about 1787-88, so the recorded 1789 is corrected to ABT 1788. This single record is also the evidence that persons 3967 and 3968 cannot be two women who both died in 1864.

For John Sanders (1842–1897)
"SANDERS, JOHN - Mother's Maiden Surname: RIDDLE - GRO Reference: 1842 J Quarter in OF BODMIN Volume 09 Page 48"
Supplies the mother's maiden surname, which the baptism omits. Searched 1842 plus/minus 1 year with district Bodmin and returned exactly one record across 1841-1843, which positively excludes the rival John Sanders baptised at Cardinham on 21 Apr 1839.

For John Sanders (1842–1897)
"SANDERS, JOHN - Age at Death (in years): 54 - GRO Reference: 1897 M Quarter in LISKEARD Volume 05C Page 39"
Age 54 at a death on 9 Jan 1897 places the birth between 10 Jan 1842 and 9 Jan 1843, agreeing with the June-quarter 1842 registration and the 26 Jun 1842 baptism. This is the evidence for correcting the recorded birth year from 1843 to 1842.

For Elizabeth Holbrook (1797–1871)
"MANNING, ELIZA - Mother's Maiden Surname: HOLBROOK - GRO Reference: 1839 J Quarter in CHARD Volume 10 Page 388"
The birth of her youngest daughter Eliza, giving the mother's maiden surname as HOLBROOK. Eliza aged 12 appears in the 1851 census household with George and Elizabeth, so this registration is certainly theirs. A second Manning birth in the same district and year has mother's maiden surname VINCENT, so more than one Manning couple was registering at Chard; the census household is what ties this one to our family.

For Elizabeth Holbrook (1797–1871)
"MANNING, ELIZABETH - Age at Death (in years): 0 - GRO Reference: 1865 M Quarter in CHARD Volume 05C Page 386"
EVIDENCE OF A MISATTRIBUTION, not of her death. The tree recorded her death as MAR 1865 on the strength of this registration, but the GRO gives the age at death as 0, meaning under one year old - almost certainly a granddaughter named after her. Our Elizabeth was aged 73 and living at Bedminster at the 1871 census. Her death is therefore changed to AFT 1871 and remains to be found; it is after 1881, since the tree cites her in the 1881 census at Streatham.

For Ann Hill (1843–1875)
"HILL, ANN - Mother's Maiden Surname: WESTON - GRO Reference: 1843 D Quarter in AYLESBURY Volume 06 Page 329"
Decisive between two rival Aylesbury registrations. The same search returned HILL, ANN with mother's maiden surname FARMBOROUGH at 1842 J Quarter vol 06 p.323, which is now positively excluded as a different family. The search covered 1841-1843 and returned only these two.

For William Jarrott (1842–1926)
"JARROTT, WILLIAM - Mother's Maiden Surname: EVANS - GRO Reference: 1842 S Quarter in AYLESBURY Volume 06 Page 307"
Independent English confirmation of the mother named in the Queensland death registration. Three registries now agree on Robert Jarrott and Laura Evans: this, the Queensland death, and the FreeBMD marriage page-match.

For Anne Jackman (1837–1918)
"JACKMAN, ANN - Mother's Maiden Surname: HAYNES - GRO Reference: 1837 S Quarter in AYLESBURY Volume 06 Page 246"
The mother's maiden surname, which nothing in the tree previously recorded and which the Queensland death registration leaves blank. Her mother's forename is still unknown, so the mother is entered with surname only. Registered in the September quarter of 1837, civil registration having begun on 1 July 1837, which also vindicates the recorded birth of July 1837 against her later Surrey census trail.

For Ann Norton (1811–1879)
METCALFE, ANN — Age at Death (in years): 68 — GRO Reference: 1879 D Quarter in MALTON UNION Volume 09D Page 259
Retrieved from the GRO index 26 Aug 2026. The only Ann Metcalf/Metcalfe death in Malton district 1877-1883; age 68 gives birth c.1811 against the census's c.1813, an ordinary census age drift. The next candidate (1884, age 77) is six years out. Widowed 1875.
