For “Immigrated” 14 MAR 1864 of Henry Cole

SelfName Henry Cole | SelfNationality English and Welsh | SelfMaritalStatus Married | SelfArrivalAge 22 | SelfBirthYear abt 1842 | SelfBirthPlace County of Somerset | SelfDeparturePlace Plymouth | SelfArrivalDate 14 Mar. 1864 | SelfArrivalPlace Hobsons Bay, Australia | SelfReligion Church of England | SelfArrivalShip Coldstream

Quoted in the collection's own field order. Married, Somerset-born, aged 22, six months after the High Ham wedding — the discriminators that make this the right Henry Cole. The inward list of the same voyage (record 2846656) gives 'SelfDeparturePlace Southampton' and 'SelfArrivalDate 16 Mar. 1864 | SelfArrivalPlace Melbourne', so the two lists disagree by two days and on the port of departure; the assisted list is followed here. Hobsons Bay is the anchorage for Melbourne, which is the place used. Read in the signed-in browser by the orchestrator on 2026-09-07.

For “Immigrated” 14 MAR 1864 of Harriet Jane Meaker

SelfName Harriet Coles | SelfArrivalAge 26 | SelfBirthYear abt 1838 | SelfDeparturePlace Plymouth | SelfArrivalDate 14 Mar. 1864 | SelfArrivalPlace Hobsons Bay, Australia | SelfArrivalShip Coldstream

Quoted in the collection's own field order. Entered under her married name in its register spelling, COLES, on the same voyage as her husband. Her stated age of 26 makes her two years older than the christening allows (she was 24 in March 1864); passenger-list ages are routinely approximate and the couple's identity is fixed by the ship, the date and the marriage six months earlier, not by the age.
