Baptised 9 June 1811
East Coker, Somerset, England
CONTESTED. A George Baker was baptised at East Coker, St Michael, on 9 June 1811, the son of Malachi Baker and Martha - the only George Baker born in the parish between 1805 and 1818, and the year matches the age of 43 our George gave on arriving in November 1854 from East Coker. But on the Kate's second list George named his own parents as Nicholas and Margaret, not Malachi and Martha, so this baptism may belong to a same-name man of the same parish. The event is kept on him because the parish, the year and the fact that only one George was born there all point this way; the parentage is not asserted, and he remains linked to Nicholas and Margaret.
