Benjamin Saville is entry 591 (second number 22) under the letter S, transcribed as: "591 22 Saville Benj[amin] 19 R[eads] P[rotestant] S[ingle] Essex Farm Labourer House break[ing]", continuing on the right-hand page with the trial column showing a ditto mark under Chelmsford, "23 July 1832", sentence Life, and a physical description (about 5 ft 1, ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes). A later annotation beneath his entry carries his conditional-pardon reference and the date 1 June 1848. THE POINT OF THE DOCUMENT: the Native place column records only "Essex" — the county, no parish — so this record, which is the best there is, does not name the parish he came from.
