Clandestine marriage. Dorothy was to marry Anthony Dickinson, shoemaker of Kirkby Overblow, the next morning (banns read at Knaresborough and Kirkby Overblow); on her signal John fetched her on a mare borrowed from the World's End and "with only the trouble of riding twelve miles, and at a small expence, [they] were united". The church is not named in any source. Reconciled with her parents after the birth of their first child.
