Bronze plaque set into a stone base. Inscription read from the photograph: "SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / JOHN ABEL AVERY / DIED 3RD JANUARY 1880 AGED 79 9/12 YEARS / ALSO / CHARLOTTE ANNE AVERY / DIED 3RD AUGUST 1874 AGED 65 YEARS". The plaque is a later replacement marker (the lettering is cast, not cut). Note that it names the wife CHARLOTTE ANNE, not Charlotte Emma, and that 79 years 9 months back from 3 January 1880 gives a birth about April 1800 for John Abel Avery.
