Compiled trees give the birth as 8 April 1813; that date carries no citation, so only the year is recorded here. This supersedes the Icklesham birthplace this row carried earlier, which was inferred from the 1838 Coromandel passenger list's "Ecclesham"; the family did move to Icklesham, but not until later that year. Their course through east Sussex: married at Rye in 1804 and baptising there in 1805; at Winchelsea in 1807; at Udimore from 1810, where his sister Martha was baptised on 25 November, and living at Brede Minor by April 1813; and at Icklesham by 5 August 1813, when Martha was buried there. His siblings Thomas (1817) and Harriot (1822) were baptised at Icklesham.
